Scheduling

Please contact the office by phone or by filling out the contact us form to schedule an appointment.

For a first time consultation with Dr. Ahn, the fee is $200 and is collected when your come in for your appointment. We do require a credit card number to reserve your appointment. The card will NOT be charged until after your consultation. If you need to cancel or reschedule your consultation, we require a 24 hour notice to avoid a $150 cancellation fee. If you schedule surgery or have a treatment the day of your consultation, the consultation fee will be applied towards the cost of your procedure. If you do not arrive for the consultation or cancel your consultation within 24 hours of the appointment, we will charge a $150 cancellation fee to your credit card.

If you need to cancel or reschedule your consultation, please contact the office at least 24 hours prior to your appointment to avoid the cancellation fee. Please note for Monday appointments, patients need to cancel or reschedule by 12 noon on Friday to avoid the cancellation fee. Our office also requires 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule any appointment to avoid a $150 cancellation fee. This includes appointments for treatments, as well as follow up appointments. What To Expect

The initial consultation with Dr. Ahn is meant to be an educational session. Any questions or concerns are answered in easy-to-understand, non-medical terms by Dr. Ahn. Dr. Ahn uses digital photography and computer imaging to demonstrate the potential outcome/result of various procedures. Dr. Ahn believes that the role of the doctor is to educate the patient, following the Latin root docere, “to teach.” An educated patient is better able to make a decision and has a more satisfying outcome. Ultimately, unlike other plastic surgeons’ offices, we are not just trying to book the next patient. We are trying to establish a long-lasting relationship built on trust and excellent results.

Please expect to spend approximately 1-1 ½ hours in the office for your consultation. Arriving on time for your appointment ensures that Dr. Ahn will be able to spend the full 45 minutes with you. Our practice has grown because of our patients’ kind referrals. In fact, our best patients are referred by people like you. We encourage you to recommend our office to your family and friends. We always have time to care for a new patient.

Privacy

Understanding the need for discretion and privacy, we strictly follow all rules of patient-doctor confidentiality and federal standards for privacy under HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act of 1996). We also ask that you show discretion and refrain from discussing other clients during your visit to Ahn Point. As a courtesy to other clients in the office, we ask that you refrain from cell phone use and turn off all phones upon entering Ahn Point. Our office has a discreet doorway, in addition to the main entrance, to help maintain patient privacy. This is particularly helpful for those who have recently undergone a treatment or procedure. Out of Town Guests

Because of his international reputation, Dr. Ahn sees clients from many states and countries. Our patient advisors can arrange for a virtual consultation, if that is more convenient. They are also more than happy to assist in arranging for a hotel during your stay, whether just for an appointment or while recovering after surgery.

Dr. Ahn has two locations for your convenience, in Wellesley and Westborough Massachusetts. Many of our patients have expressed their preference for being outside the busy city for their treatments and procedures and find Dr. Ahn’s practice to offer a more private and personal experience.

Companion Service

The option for a companion service is great for both local and out of town patients. Ahn Point can arrange for a caregiver to bring our patients to and from the office from their home or hotel for any treatments, procedures and/or follow up appointments. The companion service option is convenient for patients who are:

Traveling alone
Need assistance getting to and from appointments
Looking to keep their experience to themselves

Virtual Consultation- Skype

For patients who are unable to travel to the office, Dr. Ahn offers the opportunity to have their initial consultation via Skype or any other desktop sharing platform with video. This way, the patient can learn more about the procedure or surgery she may be interested in before having to travel to the office for the consultation. Scheduling a consultation with Dr. Ahn is the best way to learn more about your area(s) of interest and to determine how to reach your aesthetic goals. The Aesthetic Surgery Center

The majority of all of Dr. Ahn’s cosmetic procedures are performed at The Aesthetic Surgery Center, our private in-office surgical suite accredited by The Joint Commission. Our patients love the comfort, privacy, and personalized care we are able to deliver here at The Aesthetic Surgery Center.

Ahn Point Recovery Program

The AWC Recovery Program helps you return to your normal everyday activities as quickly as possible. Individuals vary in terms of length of recovery, extent of bruising and swelling, and general healing. Following the program outlined by Dr. Ahn helps to:

Reduce postoperative downtime
Minimize bruising and swelling
Return you to normal life as soon as possible
Reduce pre- and postoperative anxiety

Before Surgery

Relaxation

Having reviewed over 100 articles from the anesthesia literature, Dr. Ahn has concluded that patients with less anxiety before surgery require less pain medication and have less discomfort during the recovery. The first building block to reducing anxiety is education.

Education

Dr Ahn is board certified in both Head and Neck Surgery and Facial Plastic Surgery. He is one of only a few doctors in all of New England to have achieved this distinction. As a physician, he feels that his responsibility is to educate the patient. During your initial consultation he will attempt to inform you fully of the treatment options, their benefits, alternatives and expected outcomes. This will allay any of your concerns. In Dr. Ahn’s experience, an informed patient will typically have a better outcome.

Supplemental medications

At least two weeks before and 2 weeks after surgery, Dr. Ahn will have you stop all blood thinning medications and supplements, and supplemental drinks/shakes. A list will be provided to you, but if you are unsure about a certain supplement or medication, please check with our office. After surgery you will start taking Arnica Montana, a homeopathic medication that has been proven by Dr. Ahn and his colleagues to reduce bruising and swelling after surgery. Dr. Ahn may also prescribe a sleep aid to help those who are particularly anxious.

Day of Surgery

Just before surgery. Both you and Dr. Ahn will be well rested and will meet again in the preoperative area. Dr. Ahn will talk with you briefly at which time it is quite normal for you to be slightly nervous. Dr. Ahn will instruct the anesthesia provider to administer a relaxing medication, followed by Decadron and an antibiotic solution. Decadron reduces swelling and postop nausea. In the operating suite, Dr. Ahn will use a judicious amount of long lasting local anesthesia so that the anesthesia provider can use less narcotic-also reducing the chance of post operative nausea. Immediately after surgery. For some procedures, Dr Ahn applies loose dressings to the operated area. This reduces swelling and provides soothing comfort. Most patients need little pain medication.

After Surgery

Depending on the surgery, you may have some bruising and swelling. After the surgery you will take Arnica Montana to reduce the bruising and swelling. Your activity will be limited, the extent to which can be discussed at your consultation.

While some patients may be slightly behind the curve, most patients who follow the Recovery Program return to society within 10-14 days after surgery.

Financing

At Ahn Point, we believe financial considerations should not be an obstacle to cosmetic surgery. We therefore provide the following payment options: cash, check, MasterCard, Visa, Discover or a flexible payment plan through Care Credit (0% for 6 months or extended payment options with interest are the only two plans offered with our office). Of the total fee, 20% is due on the day the surgery is scheduled. The remaining balance is due four weeks before the scheduled date of surgery. If the balance is not paid in full four weeks before the scheduled date of surgery, the procedure may be cancelled at the discretion of the physician.

If you decide to cancel your surgery, please notify our office no fewer than four weeks prior to your scheduled surgery date. If you do not notify our office more than four weeks prior to your scheduled surgery date, you will be charged a cancellation fee of 20% of your surgical quote. If you reschedule your procedure within 3 weeks of your scheduled surgical date, there is a $500.00 non-refundable fee.

Payment for all other services offered at Ahn Point are due at the time of treatment, or in advance for Fraxel, Fractora, Morpheus, Coolsculpting and Emsculpt treatments. Please contact our staff for more information.
