Brow lift surgery has evolved dramatically over the years. As a renowned facial plastic surgeon who is committed to providing world-class care to his patients, Dr. Min S. Ahn closely follows all emerging surgical techniques so that he may incorporate the best ideas into his own practice. This is why he has adopted temporal brow lift for his patients at Ahn Point in Boston. He has found it to be the most successful way to reduce visible signs of aging on the forehead without requiring serious downtime for the patient.

Types of Brow Lift

Traditional brow lift, also known as coronal brow lift, requires a long incision along the top of the forehead spanning from ear to ear. This allows for a surgeon to remove loose skin and lift the brows with reduced lines. This traditional approach involves a long recovery, a large scar, numbness at the top of the head and a “surprised” look to the brows.

In the 1990s, experts developed the endoscopic brow lift. Plastic surgeons gradually began adopting this approach because it was a much less invasive way to rejuvenate the forehead. Instead of a long incision, the surgeon creates tiny incisions inside the hair through which he or she inserts fiberoptic equipment.

Temporal brow lift (sometimes called a lateral brow lift) is an even less invasive evolution of the endoscopic brow lift. Since it focuses on adjusting only the outer third of the brow, this approach is best for patients who have droopiness on the outer side of the eyebrows and forehead rather than the inner forehead at the center of the brow.

Why Temporal Brow Lift Is Preferable for Most

Patients love the temporal brow lift because it offers the most natural looking results with the easiest healing period. You should be able to resume most normal activities, including work, after a week. Pain is minimal and is easily managed with oral medications. By hiding the incisions within the hair, Dr. Ahn avoids creating visible scars.

Another benefit of a temporal brow lift is that the results look the most natural. Whereas other approaches can leave the brow looking pulled or permanently “surprised,” a temporal brow lift prevents this by only adjusting the outer edge of the eyebrow. Dr. Ahn feels that since this portion of the brow is most susceptible to drooping, it is the only part that requires manipulation to recreate a youthful arch.

Choose Dr. Ahn for Brow Lift

Other less skilled plastic surgeons may recommend another type of brow lift not because it is better for the patient but because it is easier for them to perform. They may not have the experience and judgment required to produce quality results with only slight tissue and muscle manipulation. By selecting a facial plastic surgeon at the top of his field like Dr. Ahn, you can reap all the benefits of brow lift without the fully invasive surgery.
